We had a record turnout for our Tenth Annual Skirmish in the Valley at Fiddler’s Green.  Our 11th annual event will be May 5th and 6th, 2018.  We are always the first full weekend in MAY! Come and be with us as we recreate history! Below is the schedule for our next event and a few pictures taken during the past. We always let the Yankees have a little fun pillagin’ and burning the house in the valley, then the battle begins…

Saturday

10:00 – Ladies Tea on front lawn of house, sutler’s open to the public, tour of soldier’s camps

11:00 – Cannon Fire Demonstration, House Tours of Fiddler’s Green begin (last tour group at 1:00)

2:00 – “Skirmish in the Valley” – battle begins

3:00 – 4:00 House Tours of Fiddler’s Green

5:30 – Supper provided to all reenactors and participants behind the main house

7:30 – Period Ball on the front lawn of the house featuring, Un-Reconstructed

Sunday

10:00 – Worship service inside Ruby’s Chapel

11:00 – Sutler’s open to the public, tour of soldier’s camps

12:00 – 1:00 House tours of Fiddler’s Green

2:00 – “Skirmish in the Valley” battle and burning of the house begins

  •   Un-Reconstructed to play following the battle

3:00 – 4:00 – House tours of Fiddler’s Green/End of event

COST/DONATIONS

The Skirmish in the Valley is a non-profit event that is intended for educational purposes.  This year, due to rising attendance and costs, there will be a $3.00 charge per spectator for this event. There will NOT be a $5.00 parking fee, as in years past. Any other donations are greatly appreciated!  This money goes to help purchase gun-powder for the cannons, food for reenactors, paper products, signs, advertising, trash bags, port-a-potty’s, gasoline, golf cart rental, programs, hay, firewood, ice, and much, much more! Thank you for your support.

 

 

INFORMATION FOR REENACTORS:

$5.00 registration fee: All Reenactors

img_3275Cavalry Camps are accessed by the dirt road on the opposite side  of the highway from the main spectator entrance. This is a steep, dirt road, but can be traveled by trucks and cars and small trailers. Large trailers will need to enter from another road. Vehicles must be out of this camping area by 9:00 on Saturday. This area needs to be absent of all modern vehicles/trailers so spectators can tour camps. Please note that level camping space is limited. Please arrive early for a good spot.

Union Camps are accessed by the paved road next to the main spectator entrance. There will be a sign.  Camps will be just to the right of the Red barn, facing the battlefield. Trailers and vehicles may pull down and unload at camps and then park in Reenactor parking. All cars must be removed by 9:00 Saturday morning. Please note that level camping space is limited. Please arrive early for a good spot.

Confederate Camps are accessed by the dirt road on the opposite side of the highway from the main spectator entrance. Civilian Camps are located among confederate camps. Camping space is limited.

Modern Camps. Modern camping is encouraged and is located in the field, facing the highway, close to Reenactor parking. (Same entrance as Confederate Camps.

Reenactor Parking is located at the foot of the hill from the Confederate Camps. Space is somewhat limited. Any spillover will park in the spectator parking field in front of the main spectator entrance to Fiddler’s Green.
